Recitation of ‘Hanuman Chalisa’ as a counter against ‘Namaz’ in UP College in Uttar Pradesh !

7 students arrested

Varanasi – Outsiders were gathering at the mosque in the UP College campus here in the name of Namaz. In protest against this, some students started reciting ‘Hanuman Chalisa’ leading to a rise in the tension there. The police took immediate action, brought the situation under control and arrested seven students. After this, Namaz was stopped in the mosque.

1. Student leader Vivekananda Singh alleged that outsiders entered the college premises in the name of Namaz. Students have no problem in worshipping and reading Namaz on the college premises with no interference from outsiders.

2. Principal Dharmendra Singh said that no outsider will be allowed to enter the college premises without an identity card.

3. The root cause of this controversy is the notice issued by the Waqf Board in the year 2018. The Waqf Board claimed the mosque on the college premises its property, while the college administration declared the construction illegal. The management claimed that the property belonged to the ‘College Trust’ since 1909.
