Bangladesh prevents 63 ISKCON members from coming to India
Dhaka (Bangladesh) – More than 50 members of ISKCON who were coming to India were stopped by the Bangladesh administration. Despite having all the valid documents, ISKCON members have been stopped from entering India. 63 members of ISKCON were stopped by Bangladeshi authorities at the Benapole port near the international border for suspicious activities. These members from various districts of Bangladesh had come to enter India at the Benapole port; but the police stopped them saying that their activities were suspicious.
According to information given by the Bangladeshi media, Administrative Officer Imtiaz Mohammad Ahsanul said that the ISKCON members were denied permission to travel due to their suspicious intentions to go to India.
According to information given by the Vice-President of ISKCON Kolkata, Radharaman Das, the people stopped by the Bangladeshi police at the Indian border were ISKCON members from various parts of Bangladesh. Due to the situation in Bangladesh, they had decided to come for a pilgrimage to India. On what basis are they being denied permission to go to another country despite having valid documents ? Das also raised the question on this occasion.
