47 Hindus arrested for protesting in Bangladesh

Dhaka, Bangladesh – Police in Thakurgaon district arrested 47 Hindus who were peacefully protesting for the release of Chinmoy Krishna Das Prabhu, a member of ISKCON in Bangladesh. The Police have claimed that these protesters committed a crime against the state by violating the rules of protest. Human rights volunteers of ‘Bangladesh Minority Watch’ told ‘Sanatan Prabhat’ that no violence was committed by the Hindu protesters; but criminal cases were filed against the Hindus who were peacefully protesting. They have said that this is a violation of the fundamental rights of religious minorities.

‘Bangladesh Minority Watch’ President H.H. Ravindra Ghosh contacted the Superintendent of Police and Deputy Commissioner and inquired about this matter. “I am deeply concerned about the trumped-up cases being filed against minority Hindus and their arrests without any legal authority,” Ghosh said. He demanded that the Government release the minority Hindu victims to ensure justice.
