Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) – Students from Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan staged an agitation at Balahar, Dist. kangra. The students were angry because a professor stopped themfrom applying tilak and saying Jai Shriram. The students staged an agitation. Vishva Hindu Parishad and devout Hindus from other organisations have supported the students.
1. Earlier the students had taken their complaint to the Director of the Institute Professor Satyam Kumari. She had sent the matter to the disciplinary committee.
2. The identity of the professor who stopped the students from Dharmapalan, is still not clear.
3. The Professor had said that Jai Shriram is ‘political’, and that was the reason for students’ anger. They have also alleged misbehaviour and discrimination by the professor.
4. Vishva Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal, Hindu Jagran Manch and Brahman Sabha are the other Hindu organisations which joined the protest at the entrance of the Institute. They raised Jai Shriram Slogans and sang Shriram Bhajans.
5. Professor Kumari said, “we have received the students’ complaint, and a disciplinary action committee has been formed. We have asked the professor and the students to put forth their views. The professor has already been served a notice.”
Editorial PerspectiveIf we don’t chant Jai Shriram in a Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, where else do we chant Jai Shriram – in Jamia Milia Islamia or in Aligarh Muslim University ? It is absolutely unacceptable that Hindus are stopped from practicing their Dharma, in Hindus’ own country. |
