Many people gathered near the mosque as they got information about the survey of the mosque. Police, however, dispersed them and increased patrolling as a precautionary measure.
Mahant Rishiraj Giri Maharaj was not allowed to enter the mosque. He was waiting outside the mosque till the survey was completed. The Supreme Court advocate H.H. Hari Shankar Jain is representing Mahant Rishi Giri. The Supreme Court advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain, the son of advocate H.H. Hari Shankar Jain was also present in the mosque during the survey.
Shahi Jama Masjid is the old Shri Harihar Mandir !
Shahi Jama Masjid is located on the east in Sadar Kotwali area. Mahant Rishiraj Giri Maharaj has claimed in his petition that Shahi Jama Masjid was originally Shri Harihar Temple. There are enough proofs of the existence of the temple before the mosque. Sambhal is the place where Bhagawan Vishnu is said to manifest in His tenth incarnation as Kalki.
Nothing suspicious found in the mosque – claims Masjid Committee
After the survey, Jafar Ali Vakil, the President of Shahi Jama Masjid stated that the team has surveyed every part of the mosque. He and masjid committee members were also with the team and cooperated with them. Nothing objectionable has been found in the survey so far to raise a suspicion. It will, therefore, be assumed that it was Jama Masjid.
Survey has been conducted as per the plan – District Magistrate
Dr Rajendra Pensiya, District Magistrate, informed that the Commissioner has conducted a survey in the presence of the petitioners. The members of the respondents and masjid committee were also present. The survey report will be presented in the Court. Initial survey has been completed. They may go to the Court if needed and another survey may be conducted if required. The survey has, however, been completed as per the plan.
There are many signs and symbols showing connection with Hindu Dharma – Advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain
Advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain stated that the original temple was demolished by Babar in 1529 and converted into a mosque. A petition has been filed now since the site is protected under the Archaeological Survey of India. There will be no encroachments on such protected sites. There are still many signs and symbols associated with Hindu Dharma. The Uttar Pradesh Government, masjid committee and those who are involved in it have been made parties to this case. We shall attend every hearing. I will present my side in the Court whenever required. Ban should be imposed on the controversial site for using it as a mosque. This site is related to Hindu Dharma and its history. Its use should not, therefore, become a cause of religious conflict.
This site was a mosque, is a mosque and will remain as a mosque – Samajwadi MP Ziaur Rahman Barq
Samajwadi Party’s MP Ziaur Rahman Barq representing Sambhal stated that Sambhal’s Jama Masjid is historical and very old. In 1991, the Supreme Court passed an order to maintain religious places which have been there from 1947, as they are. Even then, some people want to spoil the atmosphere in the State and the country. They cannot claim even an inch of this site. There was a mosque earlier, there is a mosque now and there will always be a mosque here.
Editorial PerspectiveSuch prompt surveys should be conducted across India and their report should be made available to the public, exposing the truth to the world. It will help the world to know the history of persecution of Hindus. |
