Teacher in a Government school instructs students to bow to him instead of Deities

Raipur (Chhattisgarh) – A case has been registered against Rajkumar Ogra, a teacher at a Government higher secondary school in the Pali area of Katghora in Korba District, for assaulting Class 11 students who chanted ‘Jai Shriram’. Previously, the teacher had reportedly made objectionable remarks about Deities. Ogra teaches Hindi.
1. According to the complaint, Ogra allegedly told students that Deities are not worthy of worship. He claimed, “I am an educated person. Bow before me.” The students did not respond immediately, but some of them chanted ‘Jai Shriram’ while leaving the school. Upon hearing this, the teacher allegedly assaulted two students.
2. After learning about the incident, parents approached the school management, stating, “The teacher has hurt religious sentiments and insulted people’s faith. “Although Ogra apologised to the parents, they remained dissatisfied. They also accused him of frequently targeting the students’ religious beliefs.
3. Parents and locals have filed a complaint with the Police. The Block Education Officer has ordered an inquiry into the matter. Statements from both the students and the teacher have been recorded. The report will be submitted to the Education Department for further action.
Editorial PerspectiveTeachers with such a mindset must be dismissed. The BJP Government in Chhattisgarh should investigate how many such individuals are working in Government schools and take strict action against them. |
