Election Commission directs the BJP to remove a campaign video
The video depicted Muslim infiltrators forcibly encroaching a Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) supporter’s house
Ranchi (Jharkhand) – The Election Commission has directed the Jharkhand BJP unit to immediately remove a video used in one of its election advertisements. The decision follows complaints lodged by Congress and the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), alleging that the content violated the model code of conduct. In addition to ordering the video’s removal, the Election Commission has issued a formal notice to the BJP.
1. The video, broadcast by the BJP in Jharkhand on their official ‘X’ account, depicted the house of an alleged supporter of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM). It showed a large group of Muslim infiltrators entering the house and forcibly occupying it, taking control of the property, and leaving the family bewildered.
2. In another scene, two locals visit the house of the JMM supporter. When the homeowner complains that “infiltrators are destroying his house,” the locals respond, blaming the JMM Government for bringing these infiltrators in the area. They question why only their colony is being targeted and suggest that the homeowner’s house should also be demolished.
3. The advertisement criticized the JMM Government, accusing it of providing various forms of assistance to Bangladeshi and Rohingya Muslim infiltrators during its tenure in Jharkhand.
