Following Canada, now referendum for ‘Khalistan’ organised in New Zealand

Local residents oppose, warn organisers to leave the country

Wellington (New Zealand) – Following Canada, Khalistan supporters have chosen New Zealand as a platform for their anti-India activities. The banned Khalistani terrorist organisation ‘Sikhs for Justice’ organised a Khalistan referendum in New Zealand on 17 November. During the event, Khalistani supporters raised anti-India slogans and displayed Khalistani flags. However, their actions angered the local residents of New Zealand, who opposed this referendum. At one of the referendum sites, a local citizen arrived and openly protested against the Khalistanis.

1. A video of this local citizen has surfaced, showing him holding a loudspeaker and raising slogans against the Khalistanis, asking them to leave New Zealand. He was heard saying, “How dare you raise this flag here ? Go back to your country. Do not bring your foreign agendas into our nation. If you think you can come here and hoist your flag, know that your flag is not welcome here. We only hoist the red, white, and blue flag of New Zealand.”

2. While condemning the Khalistan referendum in New Zealand, External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar stated that such actions could affect India-New Zealand relations.

3. Dr Jaishankar had earlier urged New Zealand’s Foreign Minister Winston Peters to ensure that Khalistanis are not given a platform in the country.
