Hindu Makkal Katchi’s youth leader Omkar Balaji illegally arrested by Tamil Nadu Police

Balaji had raised voice against unjust action taken on Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev and his Ashram

Omkar Balaji arrested

Chennai – Omkar Balaji, the youth leader of the staunch pro-Hindu organisation Hindu Makkal Katchi (HMK), was recently arrested illegally by Tamil Nadu Police. The arrest came in the wake of a speech he delivered during a protest march organised by HMK on 27th October in Coimbatore. In his speech, Omkar raised his voice against the baseless allegations made by R. Gopal, the editor of the Tamil magazine Nakkheeran, against Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev and the Isha Yoga Centre. This led to harassment from both Tamil Nadu Police and Nakkheeran. It is alleged that the authorities are acting under the influence of the ruling DMK party. Arjun Sampath, the founder president of HMK, shared this information with Sanatan Prabhat, and further accused that there are attempts to suppress Omkar Balaji’s work for the Hindu Dharma.

1. DMK leader Mohammad Khalil filed a Police complaint against Omkar after the latter protested the Police action against Isha Foundation.

2. Following this, Balaji applied for anticipatory bail, which was granted by the Madras High Court. However, the Police violated legal procedures and arrested him. He was later remanded to judicial custody.

3. HMK has appealed to the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu to ensure that Omkar receives fair treatment.

4. HMK has pledged to continue thwarting attempts to undermine the Hindu community and Hindu institutions.

5. The hashtag #JusticeForOmkar has been used by Sanatan Prabhat on its X (formerly Twitter) account to call for justice for Omkar Balaji.

Tamil Nadu Police’s disgraceful attempt to defame a devout Hindu leader

Tamil Nadu Police illegally arrested Omkar Balaji overnight in a Police Station and, like a hardened criminal, placed a criminal identity board around his neck before taking photographs of him and posting them on social media.

Editorial Perspectives

  • It is no surprise that Hindu Saints and devout Hindus face injustice at the hands of Tamil Nadu’s ruling DMK and its subservient Police force, who are notorious for their staunch anti-Sanatan policy.
  • Given the ongoing incidents of anti-Hindu and anti-national activities in Tamil Nadu, nationalist citizens must now demand the imposition of President’s Rule in the State.
