Exclusive : Security Arrangements yet to be made even though State Assembly Elections in Maharashtra are just a week away
Mumbai, 14th November – The State’s security planning (State Security Planning) remains unfinished although just a week is remaining for Maharashtra’s Assembly elections, reliable sources have informed the newspaper daily ‘Sanatan Prabhat’.
The State’s Director General of Police (DGP) office is responsible for preparing the security plan, which is submitted to the Election Commission by the Home Department before the election. This plan includes sensitive issues such as security measures for voters in Naxal-affected areas, arrangements for transporting ballot boxes from Naxal-affected zones to secure locations, and overall security arrangements in sensitive areas within the State. Over the past eight days, the State Chief Electoral Officer’s office has been following up on the early completion of this plan; however, it has not yet been submitted to the Election Commission. The Police and Election Officers closely coordinate the work on the actual voting days once they receive the plan from the DGP’s office.
The representative from ‘Sanatan Prabhat’ inquired at the DGP office when he was informed that completing the State security planning would take another two days. Voting across 288 constituencies in Maharashtra’s Assembly election is scheduled for 20th November 2024, with results to be announced on November 23.
