ED raids 24 locations In Maharashtra and Gujarat

Mumbai – Following allegations of a businessman from Malegaon misusing funds for election campaigning, the Electorate Directorate (ED) conducted raids on 13th November 2024 in Thane, Vashi, Malegaon, Nashik, Surat, and Karnavati. These raids targeted locations associated with the businessman and fake establishments. It is alleged that Rs 125 crore was misused through bank accounts. ED is conducting further investigations into this case.

The raids were conducted after Siraj Ahmed Haroon Memon from Malegaon opened multiple bank accounts. Memon was arrested by the local police.

According to BJP leader Kirit Somaiya’s post on “X,” Police, ED, Income Tax Department, Reserve Bank of India, and Election Commission are investigating Memon’s 24 anonymous bank accounts in Malegaon and two accounts in banks in Nashik.

When ED reviewed the transactions in these accounts, it found dealings worth Rs 125 crore. The funds are alleged to have been used for election purposes.
