Mumbai – Raju Godse, husband of Congress MP Varsha Gaikwad, attempted to halt Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s Guru Puja organized by the Art of Living Centre in Dharavi, Mumbai. During this incident, he caused a huge commotion, accompanied by his associates, while nearly 1,500 citizens were present.

While the event was in progress, Raju Godse and his supporters barged into the venue, causing disruption and insisting the Guru Puja be stopped. They falsely accused the organizers of luring voters by promising incentives and claimed that cooking pots and money were being distributed. However, thorough verification by the police and Election Commission officials found no evidence of any money or gifts being handed out. “The 1,500 attendees were terrified, fearing that Godse’s men would attack them at any moment,” stated Prashant Vhatkar, one of the event organizers.

Strong Condemnation of the Gaikwad Family and Raju Godse – Prashant Vhatkar, Art of Living Centre, Dharavi

“We have organized similar events every week, not for the first time. During the pandemic, we distributed over 100,000 food packets in Dharavi while the then-Congress MLA was nowhere to be seen in the constituency. Now, they are defaming us with politically motivated accusations. I strongly condemn the Gaikwad family and Raju Godse for their actions.

A few months back, a young man, Arvind Vaishya, was killed by extremists in Dharavi, and his funeral procession faced stone-pelting by fundamentalists. Yet, Varsha Gaikwad never tried to stop them. However, she swiftly intervened to halt action against mosques. Why did she ignore Hindu concerns ? Varsha Gaikwad and her associates must answer for this.”
