Qatar orders Hamas leaders to leave country after US request
Doha (Qatar) – Qatar agreed in recent weeks to kick Hamas out of its country following a request from the US. Militant group’s top leaders reside in the Qatari capital of Doha. Qatar also agreed to accept a ceasefire and hostage release deal in the Israel-Hamas war.
A cease-fire between Hamas and Israel is a top US priority. US officials informed their Qatari counterparts about two weeks ago that they must stop giving Hamas refuge in their capital; Qatar agreed and gave Hamas notice about a week ago, sources said. Qatar told Hamas leaders to leave the country a week ago, a senior administration official said.
“Hamas is a terrorist group that has killed Americans and continues to hold Americans hostage,” said a senior official. “After rejecting repeated proposals to release hostages, its leaders should no longer be welcomed in the capitals of any American partner.”
A US official said that Hamas leaders have not been given much time to leave the country. It is believed that they may go to Turkiye.
Editorial PerspectiveSuch a request was not given by USA in the last few years, but it has been given now. From this, it can be seen that ‘This is the result of Trump government which has come back in US’. |
