8 dogs and 23 birds injured due to firecracker smoke in Mumbai
Mumbai – During the 4 days of Diwali festival, 8 dogs and 23 birds have been injured or burnt due to firecrackers and their smoke in Mumbai and its surrounding areas. (Those who are responsible for this should be reprimanded – Editor). Compared to last year, the incidents of animal and bird injuries have reduced to some extent this year.
Among those injured due to breathing problems are 15 pigeons, 6 black kites and 2 owls. Firecrackers were burst on the backs of some dogs. (This is the level of human insensitivity – Editor). Those dogs had to be hospitalized due to burns. Lightly injured birds and dogs were treated and released, informed Dr Mayur Dangar, Manager at ‘The Bai Sakarbai Dinshaw Petit Hospital for Animals’ in Parel.
