Uproar on the first day of J&K assembly over the demand for restoration of Article 370

BJP MLAs oppose

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) – On the first day of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) MLA Waheed Para moved a resolution against the removal of Article 370. Along with this, he also demanded to grant special status to Jammu and Kashmir. BJP MLAs opposed these proposals. BJP MLA Shamlal Sharma demanded that ‘Waheed Para should be suspended for violating the rules of the House by bringing such a proposal’. Currently, Jammu and Kashmir is a Union Territory.

1. While the BJP MLAs were opposing the motion, the ruling National Conference MLAs also came to the open space in front of the Speaker. They accused BJP MLAs of obstructing the working.

2. During the uproar, Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather repeatedly requested all the MLAs to sit down on their respective seats; but no one listened to him. “The proposal has not come to me yet. A decision will be taken only after reading it, “said Abdul Rahim Rather.

Editorial Perspective

Despite knowing that Article 370 cannot be implemented again, those who deliberately waste time by creating a chaos in the assembly, must be held accountable for the cost of the session.
