Nepal to show some of Indian territory in Nepal on its new 100-rupee-note

Indian traders express concern

New Delhi – One more reason has come up for the increased tension between India and Nepal. Reportedly, Nepal will include some Indian territory along the border, in the map of its100-rupee-note.

Nepal has been claiming India’s Kalapani territory since 1990. In fact, since ancient times Kalapani has been a part of India. Nepal says that after the Sugauli Agreement, Kalapani territory has been taken by India from Nepal. The then Monarchy and East India Company had signed a treaty.

After the partition of India, British Administrators did not increase even an inch of land area for India.

India has already lost PoK and some more land area, however Nepal calls India expansionist and accuses India of annexation of land from Nepal.

Now, when Nepal shows Indian territory on its 100-rupee-note, the traders at the border think that it will create confusion in the minds of people about the relations between both the countries. Some traders feel that Nepal should not indulge in such provocative act. India has not annexed even an inch of land from either Nepal or from any other neighbouring country. Nepal and India have been friends since ancient times.

Editorial Perspective

Nepal cannot be audacious unless it has surreptitious support of China. Nepal should not take such suicidal step in its own interest.
