New Delhi – A major clash erupted on the evening of 22nd October at Jamia Millia Islamia University when Muslim students opposed the Diwali celebrations being held by Hindu students. During the incident, Muslim students reportedly kicked over the lit lamps and destroyed the rangoli. They were also heard chanting slogans like “Allahu Akbar” (Allah is Great), “Nara-e-Takbeer” (Proclamation of Allah’s greatness), and “Palestine Zindabad”. The confrontation soon escalated into a physical altercation between the two groups. Upon receiving reports, the Police arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control. Videos of the incident have gone viral on social media. So far, no formal complaints have been registered, and a heavy Police presence remains in the area.

Eyewitnesses reported that while opposing the Diwali celebration, Muslim students threatened Hindu female students, warning them, “Wear a hijab, or we will rape you.” They also kicked over the lamps and destroyed the rangoli.
The administration remained silent – Students allege
Angry Hindu students claimed that senior university officials were present during the unrest but did not intervene to stop the violence. Despite students being injured, the university administration remained silent throughout the incident.
