Jemimah Rodrigues’ membership revoked by ‘Khar Gymkhana Club’

Mumbai – The ‘Khar Gymkhana Club’ has revoked the honorary membership of Jemimah Rodrigues, a player of ‘Team India’ and a key player in the middle order of the Indian women’s cricket team, which represented India in the T-20 World Cup, for 3 years. This club is one of the oldest in Mumbai. The gymkhana said the decision was taken as Jemimah’s father used her membership for ‘religious activities’. (Jemimah’s father should also be severely punished in this case – Editor).
According to Khar Gymkhana officials, Jemimah’s father was using the club premises for religious purposes. Some members objected to this. He was also accused of conducting a programme of religious conversions. Hence, they decided to revoke her membership. This was also approved by the members present in the general meeting.
Khar Gymkhana Managing Committee member Shiv Malhotra said, Jemimah’s father had been associated with the organisation ‘Brother Manual Ministries’. He used the auditorium of Khar Gymkhana for about one and a half years. 35 programmes were organised there. They were for conversions. Khar Gymkhana does not allow any religious event.
