Agreement reached between India and China for patrolling the Line of Actual Control
New Delhi – India and China have signed an agreement regarding LAC. India and China have agreed to resume patrolling. The agreement was signed before Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for Russia for the 16 th BRICS Summit (Summit of Brazil, Russia, South Africa, India and China) to be held in Russia on 22 nd and 23 rd October. The Summit will be attended by Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Vikram Misri, Secretary to Ministry of External Affairs of India said that an agreement has been signed after the discussions held over the last several weeks on the exercise of patrolling along the Line of Actual Control in Indo-China Border area.
The problems which came up regarding this area in the year 2020, are being resolved now. According to the agreement, the troops of the two countries will return to their old posts in Depsang and Demchok. Buffer Zone (the area between the borders of two countries) has also been cleared.
There has been border dispute between India and China since the year 2020. There was tension when China changed its position on the border. There was an encounter between Chinese and Indian soldiers in Galwan. After this, both the countries deployed increased number of troops on LAC.
