Mumbai – A case has been registered against Shobha Kapoor, the managing director of OTT platform Alt Balaji, and her daughter, producer Ekta Kapoor, for depicting obscene scenes involving minor  girls in a web series. The complaint was filed by Swapnil Hire from Borivali (Mumbai), leading to the registration of a case at the M.H.B. police station. The controversial content was reportedly broadcast on the Alt Balaji platform, raising serious concerns about the portrayal of minors in such an inappropriate manner.

In the complaint filed by Hire, it was stated that the web series Gandi Baat, Class of 2017, and Class of 2020 depict obscene images of minor girls. The complaint alleges that “minor girls are shown performing inappropriate acts in school uniforms and engaging in explicit behaviour.”It further warns that such content could have a detrimental effect on children. In addition to filing a complaint with the police, Hire also submitted a petition to the district court in Borivali. Following the court’s order, the police registered a case on October 18th .

Last month, on September 27th,the Supreme Court of India delivered a significant verdict on child pornography. The court declared that viewing, publishing, and downloading obscene content involving children constitutes a criminal offense. This ruling reinforces legal actions against child pornography and highlights the need for stricter enforcement to protect children from such exploitation.
