Blast near wall of a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) school in Delhi : No casualties

New Delhi – Police said the wall of the school, nearby shops and a car received damage and the area has been cordoned off. Plumes of smoke could be seen billowing from the spot.
A mysterious low-intensity explosion was reported near a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) school in Delhi’s Rohini area around 7.50 a.m, damaging the school’s wall, a senior Delhi Police officer said.
No injuries or casualties have been reported so far. Initial investigation suggests could have been caused by a crude bomb.
Sources in Delhi Police said it was a low-intensity IED (Improvised Explosive Device) controlled with a timer or remote without shrapnel or ball bearings.
It is suspected that perpetrators wanted to send a message to the authorities, though no one has taken responsibility for the blast as yet.
A purported video of the incident, making the rounds on social media, shows thick plumes of smoke rising from the spot where the explosion occurred.
Teams from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), National Security Guard (NSG), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Delhi Police cordoned off the area. Forensic experts found a suspicious “white powder” at the spot and have sent it to the laboratory for examination. They also collected soil samples from the site. The investigation is underway to find out if there was a plan to carry out bigger terrorist act.
