Bangladesh Interim Government again threatens India that it will strongly oppose if India refuses to extradite Sheikh Hasina
Dhaka (Bangladesh) – Asif Nazrul , Law advisor of the Interim Government of Bangladesh stated in response to the asylum in India taken by Sheikh Hasina, Former Prime Minister of Bangladesh, “If India tried to refuse the extradition of ousted Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the country would launch a strong protest”. Nazrul made the statement after the International Crimes Tribunal of Bangladesh issued an arrest warrant against Sheikh Hasina. The tribunal ordered officials to present before itself Sheikh Hasina along with 45 other accused, by 18th November. Approximately 200 court cases are pending against Sheikh Hasina in Bangladesh. Most of them are related to the deaths that occurred during the student protest movement.

Speaking to a Bangladeshi news channel, Asif Nazrul said that if Sheikh Hasina honestly accepts her crimes, India would have to hand her over to Bangladesh as India is a nation abiding by a legal system.
India and Bangladesh already have an extradition treaty. The Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India informed about Sheikh Hasina’s current situation, “As we said earlier, Sheikh Hasina had come here at short notice for safety reasons and she continues to be here.”
