Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh) – The Kanpur Municipal Corporation bulldozed the ‘Mama-Bhanje’ restaurant here. The eatery was built by encroaching the footpath, and Mubeen Ahmed was running the eatery pretending to be a Hindu.

Non-vegetarian food was sold here under the name of vegetarian food. The Municipal Corporation took this bold action following a complaint regarding the encroachment. (How can the Kanpur Municipal Corporation, which takes action after receiving a complaint of encroachment, be unaware of this ? If no one had complained, the municipality would never have known about it. Why should such people be fed with the public’s tax money ? Is the Municipal Corporation going to find out how many other encroachments are there in the city or is it going to wait for similar complaints ? – Editor). The Government has already made it mandatory to write the owner’s name on all dhabas and restaurants.
