Delhi bans firecrackers and their online sale during Diwali

New Delhi – The Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) has imposed a ban on firecrackers until January 1st,2025, in an effort to control air pollution in the city ahead of Diwali. According to the Government order, the production, storage, sale, and use of firecrackers are prohibited. Additionally, the online distribution of firecrackers has also been banned.

1. The Delhi Police have been assigned the task of strictly enforcing this ban and are required to submit daily reports to the DPCC.

2. The Delhi BJP has questioned the rationale behind the firecracker ban, accusing the Aam Aadmi Party Government of implementing it without any scientific basis.

3. The BJP further highlighted that the Delhi Government is yet to provide a scientific report proving that firecrackers burst on Diwali are the primary cause of city’s pollution.
