Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang arrived in Pakistan for the Shanghai Cooperation Conference held here. He had separate bilateral meetings with Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and President Asif Zardari. Pakistan and China then issued a joint statement as above.

1. Both countries emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and stability in South Asia and the need to resolve all pending disputes. The joint statement also said that they opposed any unilateral action.

2. Regarding the attack on Chinese personnel in Pakistan, Pakistani President Zardari said, “Those who detest the friendship between Pakistan and China are trying to harm the Sino-Pakistan Economic Highway and our bilateral relations; but they will not be successful.” He thanked China for its support on the Kashmir issue.

Editorial Perspective

Kashmir is an integral part of India. So no one else should talk about it. India now needs to start talking about Tibet issue on the global platform to give a befitting reply to China.
