Sri Lankan soil will not be used for anti-India acts

President of Sri Lanka Dissanayake’s assurance to India

Colombo (Sri Lanka) – External Affairs Minister of India Dr S. Jaishankar met the newly appointed President of Sri Lanka, Anura Kumara Dissanayake. In this meeting, India’s financial support is important to realise their dream of a prosperous Sri Lanka and to fulfil the aspirations of the people. President Dissanayake said that considering India’s interests, no one would be allowed to use the territory of Sri Lanka for anti-Indian activities. At this time, India assured Sri Lanka of continuous support to rebuild its economy. It also assured that India will enter into an amicable agreement with Sri Lanka on bilateral debt restructuring and support the private bondholder debt restructuring agreement.

Editorial Perspective

It would be wise to keep in mind that Dissanayake is said to be pro-Chinese and anti-India. Considering this, it will be appropriate for India to be vigilant in relation to Sri Lanka.
