Veer Savarkar, despite being a Brahmin, consumed beef : Congress Minister

An outrageous statement by Dinesh Gundu Rao Minister in Congress Government, Karnataka

Minister Dinesh Gundurao

Bengaluru (Karnataka) – “Swatantryaveer Savarkar was a Chitpavan Brahmin, yet he used to eat beef publicly and promote it. Savarkar never opposed cow slaughter. His thoughts were extremely progressive on this issue,” said Karnataka Congress Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Dinesh Gundu Rao, while speaking at an event held on Mohandas Gandhi’s Jayanti.

M. Gandhi was a strict vegetarian

Gundu Rao further said, “Gandhi was a strict vegetarian with a deep belief in Hindu cultural conservatism. He was a democratic person in his approach. (If one were to say that Gandhi caused great harm to the nation and Hindus, more than the Muslim invaders, it would not be an exaggeration – Editor) Muhammad Ali Jinnah was never a hard-core Islamist, with some claiming that he even ate pork yet he became an icon for Muslims. He was never a fundamentalist, but Savarkar was.” (It was because of Jinnah that the country was partitioned, while Savarkar opposed the partition. The Congress will never mention this – Editor)

Beating in the name of cow protection is not Savarkar’s ideology

Minister Gundu Rao stated that, “Nathuram Godse’s ideology is taking deep roots in the country. (The Congress must think about why Godse’s fierce nationalist ideology is gaining more ground than Gandhi’s suicidal pacifist thoughts – Editor) This ideology led to the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhi was religious, but today, extremism is thriving. In the name of cow protection, people are being beaten. These are not Veer Savarkar’s ideas. Although his views were extreme, they were also modern in some respects. Gandhi’s thoughts remain inspirational in combating Savarkar’s extremism.”

Congress is a factory of lies – Union Minister Anurag Thakur

Union Minister Anurag Thakur

“The Congress is a factory of lies. India will not tolerate the disrespect of Veer Savarkar. The Congress never learnt anything from Veer Savarkar. It has been proven again that the Congress does not respect freedom fighters,” said Union Minister and BJP leader Anurag Thakur. (The Union Minister should work at Government level to ensure a case is filed against Gundu Rao and he is arrested – Editor)

Will file a defamation suit against Minister Gundu Rao – Ranjit Savarkar

Ranjit Savarkar

Ranjit Savarkar, the grandson of Veer Savarkar, criticised the Congress. He said that, “It was Congress’s strategy to defame Savarkar, especially when elections were at the door. Earlier, Rahul Gandhi was doing it, and now his leaders are making statements. The Congress wants to divide the Hindu society by caste to win elections. This is akin to the British “divide and rule” policy. Indira Gandhi had adopted Savarkar’s policies. Gundu Rao’s statement that Savarkar used to eat beef and supported cow slaughter is totally falsehood. I will file a defamation suit against him.”

These people don’t know anything about Savarkar – Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy CM

Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy CM

Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, said that, “These people do not know anything about Savarkar. They insult him again and again. Rahul Gandhi started the series of making such false statements on Savarkar, and I think they are trying to take it forward.”

Veer Savarkar was non-vegetarian, but he never ate beef – Durgesh Parulkar, Devout Hindu Speaker and Writer

Durgesh Parulkar,

Savarkar never consumed beef, nor did he ever support cow slaughter. He said, “During war, if the enemy uses a herd of cows to attack Hindus, in such a situation, if necessary, the cows can be killed; but under no circumstances should the enemy be spared. “The phrase “if necessary” is crucial here. It does not mean “rampantly kill cows. “Savarkar also said that if Muslims slaughter cows to hurt the sentiments of Hindus, they should be punished, just as Hari Singh Nalwa punished those who killed cows. (Hari Singh Nalwa expanded the Sikh Empire up to Afghanistan and enforced a ban on cow slaughter so effectively that it was even followed in Kashmir at that time.)

Editorial Perspectives

  • The Congress follows the attitude of “lie but louder. “Just as the Mughal army saw the Maratha forces everywhere, so too do the Congress supporters, who love the Mughals, always see Veer Savarkar, making ridiculous attempts to slander him.
  • Hindu organisations should take steps to file cases against such individuals and ensure they are jailed and punished severely.
