Allow only Hindus to enter Garba : Hindu Janajagruti Samiti

Appeal in order to prevent ‘Love Jihad’ and preserve the sanctity of the festival

Mumbai – ‘Navaratri is an auspicious festival of worshipping Shri Adishakti; but presently, cases of violence against women, abducting of women, targeting of Hindu girls through ‘Love Jihad’ etc. are coming to light. It is necessary to save women from Love Jihad during the Navaratri festival. It is also necessary to preserve the sanctity of the festival. Therefore, those who do not accept idol worship, should not be allowed to play Garba in front of the idol of the goddess during Navaratri. Garba is a Hindu religious festival. Only those who have faith in Hindu Deities should attend Garba. Those who do not believe in idol worship and still try to enter Garba, are posing a risk of ‘Love Jihad’. To prevent this, and to preserve the sanctity of the festival, all the Garba organisers should allow only Hindus to enter,’ appealed the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS).

HJS said,

1. The Police in Solapur District of Maharashtra and in the States of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, have decided to allow entry after verification of Aadhaar card considering the safety of women. We heartily welcome this decision; but this rule should be implemented in the entire country.

2. Today, the number of Bangladeshi and Rohingya Muslim infiltrators has increased significantly. Security agencies have found that these infiltrators are involved in criminal activities. This is very serious and such people may attempt to engage in harmful activities during the Navaratri festival. Hence, the Garba organisers should take this issue seriously.

3. Non-Hindus who want to participate in Garba during Navaratri should first convert to Hindu Dharma. They should worship Hindu Deities, wear tilak and then participate in Garba.

4. During the Ganeshotsav, Shriram Navami processions etc., if gulal accidentally falls on a Muslim, or if the loudspeaker is too loud, they start a riot. Then how can they happily participate in Navaratri celebrations ? Hence, it is important to know their real intention behind participating in the Garba.

5. Navaratri means a 9-day ‘vrat’ to the goddess, performed with devotion, and it is necessary to maintain its sanctity. At present, during Navaratri, playing obscene songs from the films, dancing to them, molesting women, participating in Garba wearing exposing clothes etc. things are happening. This can endanger women’s safety. So, we should avoid this, and try to prevent commercialisation of Hindu festivals.
