Bengaluru (Karnataka) – On Saturday, police discovered Mahalakshmi’s body stored inside a fridge at her residence in Bengaluru’s Vinayaka Nagar. They formed special teams to nab the accused, and eventually zeroed in on Muktirajan Pratap Ray. A 31-year-old man who was the prime suspect in the murder a 29-year-old woman named Mahalakshmi in Bengaluru, whose body was chopped into pieces and stuffed in a fridge, was found dead in Odisha on Wednesday. Muktirajan Pratap Ray, the prime suspect in the murder of Mahalakshmi, was found dead near Bhuinpur village in Odisha’s Bhadrak district in the morning. He had written a letter before suicide. In this, he has confessed to killing Mahalakshmi. Bengaluru Deputy Commissioner of Police Shekhar Tekkannawar gave this information.
Mahalakshmi was living alone leaving her husband. The two had met while working in a garment shop and entered into a relationship. According to the police, Mahalakshmi was pressuring him to marry her, which led to constant arguments and finally an altercation. Preliminary investigation suggests that the short-tempered accused had killed her and later dismembered her body. Ray was absconding since Mahalakshmi’s murder came to light. A senior police officer told PTI that, ‘Ray had called up his younger brother after the killing and asked the latter to immediately vacate the rented house. During an interrogation the younger brother of the accused revealed that Ray had confessed to the crime upon returning home.’
