Bangladeshi citizens in New York stage protest against Bangladesh’s interim President Muhammad Yunus
New York (USA) – Violence against Hindus in Bangladesh continues unabated, with Hindus, Buddhists, and their religious sites still facing targeted attacks. Amidst this ongoing persecution, Muhammad Yunus, head of Bangladesh’s interim Government, arrived in the USA for a tour. As Yunus reached New York, Bangladeshi citizens gathered outside his hotel, protesting, and raising slogans against him for his Government’s actions against minorities.

Protesters accuse Muhammad Yunus of gaining power through ‘dirty politics’
Sheikh Jamal Hussain, one of the protesters, stated that Dr Muhammad Yunus has unlawfully and unconstitutionally seized power in Bangladesh through manipulative and corrupt politics. He highlighted the violent events in recent months, during which many people have lost their lives. Hussain emphasised that the legitimately elected Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, has not yet resigned. He appealed to the United Nations, requesting that Dr Yunus not be recognised as the representative of the Bangladeshi people.
Another protester, D. M. Ronald, expressed his concerns, stating, “We believe in secular democracy. However, after coming to power, Yunus has initiated a wave of violence, targeting Hindus, Muslims, and Christians alike. Our people are no longer safe in Bangladesh.”
