Washington (USA) – Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a US tour presently. America has returned 297 antiquities related to Indian culture. These items were smuggled out of India. India has recovered 640 antiquities so far since Modi became the PM.

When Prime Minister Modi went to America in 2021, 157 items were returned to him. Among them was the 12th – century Nataraj idol. After the visit of Prime Minister Modi in the year 2023, the US returned 105 items to India. Thus far 559 antiquities and valuables have been returned from America alone. Apart from America, 16 artefacts have been returned from Britain and 14 from Australia.

Prime Minister Modi thanked US President Joe Biden in this matter by posting on X. He also said that the fight against smuggling was intensifying.
