Dehradun (Uttarakhand) – Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Chief Minister of the BJP Government in Uttarakhand, has ordered the Police and Administration to take strict action against illegal activities such as Love Jihad, Land Jihad, and forced religious conversions. Recently, communal tensions had arisen in several hilly areas including Purula in Uttarkashi, Dharchula, and Nandnagar in Chamoli. After receiving complaints about demographic changes in various parts of the State, the Dhami Government has initiated action.

The Uttarakhand Police has launched a statewide ‘investigation campaign’ against these illegal activities. This campaign is focusing on areas suspected of providing shelter to radical Islamic elements. After the campaign concludes, conclusions will be drawn regarding demographic changes, according to the State’s Director General of Police (DGP) Abhinav Kumar. Both demographic changes and ‘Love Jihad are being handled as high-priority issues by the Police, the DGP said.
Chief Minister Dhami further stated, ‘The original identity of Devbhoomi must be preserved at all costs. We are committed to this cause. The Police and the Home Ministry will work together on this initiative’. He assured that all necessary measures will be taken to maintain the integrity of the State, and the Government will take all required steps to resolve any arising issues.
Editorial PerspectiveWhy does the CM need to give such orders to the Police and Administration ? Shouldn’t they take action against these activities on their own ? Does this mean that without such directives, the Police and Administration wouldn’t act against such wrongdoings ? |
