1. Home Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Mohammad Jehangir Alam Chaudhary met the leaders of Bangladesh Puja Udypan Parishad at the Secretariat. After this meeting, Chaudhary held a press conference and informed about this. In Bangladesh, the post of Home Advisor is equivalent to a minister’s rank.
2. “The safety of Hindus will be taken care of from the time of making the idol. We have discussed that there should be 24-hour security in the puja mandaps,” claimed Alam.
3. “Shri Durgapuja is the biggest festival of Bangladeshi Hindus. This year, a total of 32,666 puja mandaps will be constructed in Bangladesh. 157 and 88 pavilions will be constructed in Dhaka South City and North Municipal Corporation respectively. Last year, 33,431 puja mandaps were erected,” said Alam.
Bangladeshi Hindu angeredMohammad Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has issued this fatwa which interferes with the religious rights of Hindus under the pretext of maintaining law and order. The Hindus here are angered over this order and called this order ‘Talibani’. |
Editorial PerspectiveIt won’t be surprising if in future, fatwas are issued in Bangladesh like ‘lock down temples’, ‘stop puja’ and ‘convert Hindus’. |
