Militant attack in Manipur : 2 killed
Imphal – On 1st September 2024, two people, including a woman, were killed in an attack carried out by Kuki militants in the western part of Imphal District. Nine others, including the woman’s 8-year-old daughter and a Police Officer, have also been injured in the attack. According to the Police, the terrorists fired from the upper parts of the hills and dropped bombs using drones in the lower parts of the Koutruk and Kadangband valleys. (Where did the terrorists get such advanced weapons ? The Government needs to investigate – Editor). Due to the sudden attack, many people, including women, children, and the elderly, had to move to safer places.
BJP leader’s house set on fire by the Christian Kuki mob
In Peniel, the house of BJP spokesperson T. Michael L. Haokip was set on fire. Haokip posted a video of this incident on X, accusing the Kuki community of the attack. He stated that it was the third attack on his house in the year. Last week, more than 30 armed people attacked his house, and he had also received death threats.
Kuki-Zo organization demands Kukiland in Manipur
Members of the Kuki-Zo community held rallies in Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, and Tengnoupal in Manipur. They demanded a separate Kukiland within Manipur, which would be a union territory. According to these organisations, creating a union territory with an assembly, like Puducherry, is the only way to bring the State out of ethnic conflict.
