Misleading reports about attacks on Hindus : Bangladesh Opposition Party

If India does not extradite Sheikh Hasina to Bangladesh, bilateral relations will deteriorate

Dhaka (Bangladesh) – “The security of minorities in Bangladesh is the country’s internal matter. The reports about attacks on Hindus, are wrong because most of these incidents are prompted by political motives.” This untruthful statement has been given by the General Secretary of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. He added, “To start a new chapter in the relations between Bangladesh and India it is imperative that Sheikh Hasina is extradited. That will mean the respect of Bangladeshi people’s sentiments. (Alamgir conveniently ignores Hindus’ religious sentiments. – Editor) If Hasina stays in India, the bilateral relations between the two countries may deteriorate.”

Alamgir claims that once his Party comes to Power, the disputed Adani Power Agreement for the supply of electricity, will be probed, because that is harming the people of Bangladesh.

He said, “Our Party is ready to forget the past differences and to cooperate. Any activity which may threaten India’s security will not be allowed in Bangladesh.”

Editorial Perspective

This kind of dishonesty from a Muslim country Bangladesh is not a surprise. However, Hindus in India are concerned that the protection of Hindus in Bangladesh should be India’s priority.
