Not to contest Prime Ministerial elections henceforth
Tokyo (Japan) – Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has decided to resign as Prime Minister, saying that he cannot see the citizens suffering due to uncontrolled inflation. Inflation rate has skyrocketed and people are getting agitated. I can’t see all this, he said. He has announced that he would step down in the next month. Kishida also announced not to contest Prime Ministerial elections henceforth.
Kishida said that politics cannot run without the trust of the people. The politics of the country should be reformed. Kishida was appointed as the Prime Minister in 2021. During his tenure, Japan’s economy collapsed. Also, his party was accused of collecting black money. Due to these reasons, Kishida was subjected to criticism from all sides.
The situation in Japan worsened due to COVID. The Kishida Government did not take essential measures. Under Kishida, Japan spent the most on defence since the World War II. The pressure on the Government had increased due to doubling of the expenditure on defence.
