Sambhajinagar – AIMIM leaders and Muslims gathered in large numbers in front of City Chowk Police Station at Paithan Gate here on August 16. They tried to create a ruckus while demanding that Ramgiri Maharaj be arrested. Their leaders said that they would not stop until Maharaj is arrested. A demand to give death penalty to Maharaj was also made at the time. The protest was organised against Mahant Ramgiri Maharaj as he had given some information about Prophet Muhammad in a discourse during the ‘Akhand Harinam Saptah’ at Panchale (Sinnar).

The Police were trying to communicate with the mob; but the agitators became aggressive and started shouting ‘Allah-hu-Akbar’ (Allah is great). A large Police force was deployed here. The Police appealed to Muslims to maintain peace. They accepted the Muslims’ statement of demands and assured action post thorough investigation of their demands.

When asked by the media, Mahant Ramgiri Maharaj said, “I stand by what I have said. I am ready to bear the consequences. Our Saptah is currently ongoing. Let’s see about this matter later.”

Thousands of Muslims blocked the Ahilya Nagar to Sambhajinagar highway on August 16. Muslims held a flex with the picture of Maharaj on it and were slapping it.

Case registered against Mahant Ramgiriji Maharaj in Yeola

Sit in agitation was held here against Mahant Ramgiriji Maharaj of Sarla Island. The Muslims laid siege to the Yeola Police station demanding that a case be registered against Maharaj immediately. The agitation continued till 11 p.m. After this, the Police registered a case against Maharaj.

Rashtriya Warkari Parishad demands to provide protection to Mahant Ramgiriji Maharaj

Rashtriya Warkari Parishad has published a statement protesting the march against the Maharaj and sought protection for him. It is said in the statement that when painter M F Hussain hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus by painting obscene and nude pictures of Hindu deities, Hindus filed formal complaints without taking the law into their hands. Therefore, the Police should take action against those who take the law into their hands in this way.

Chief Minister meets Mahant Ramgiri Maharaj

Harinam Saptah is organised at Panchale in Sinnar. On August 16, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited Mahant Ramgiri Maharaj while on a visit here. Appreciating him, the Chief Minister said, “Mahant Ramgiri Maharaj has been giving the direction to the society and the warkaris. Anand Dighe also used to visit this Saptah.”
