3 killed in an attack on a shop selling Pakistani national flags
Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) accepts responsibility
Islamabad (Pakistan) – On the eve of Pakistan’s Independence Day, 3 people were killed and 6 got injured, in a bomb blast in Quetta. Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), which is fighting for its freedom, has taken the responsibility. Grenades were hurled on a shop selling Pakistani national flags in Liyaquat Bazar area of Quetta, the capital of Blaochistan.
1. BLA said that they had barred the sale of Pakistani national flags in this area, yet some people did not listen, hence they were attacked.
2. 14thAugust was celebrated as the 78thIndependence Day in Pakistan and BLA had barred people from celebrating holiday on this day.
3. Lately, Balochistan has been witnessing increasing number of attacks on Pakistan’s Independence Day. Shops selling Pakistani national flags are being targeted. Many of them have stopped this business. Such incidents of attacks on sellers of Pakistani national flags had occurred in 2022-2023.
What is Balochistan Liberation Army ?
After the partition of India, many people from Balochistan wanted to have their own free country, but they were included in Pakistan against their will. So, the struggle between the army and the people continues in Balochistan. BLA is fighting for its freedom. They claim their control over the resources and wealth of Balochistan. In 2007, Pakistani Government had included BLA in the list of terrorist organisations.
