Opposition’s uproar over water leakage in new parliament building
Scathing attack and adjournment motion by opposition
New Delhi – Congress MP Manikam Tagore has posted a video on ‘X’ showing water leakage in new parliamentary building. Video depicts leaking water being collected in a bucket. Opposition parties have raised a strong objection to this and brought an adjournment motion in the parliament. Many MP’s from opposition parties have posted this video of water leakage and lambasted the Union government.
Tagore in his caustic words wrote that- Outside (the parliament) examination papers are getting leaked (and) in parliament water is leaking. It’s been only 1 year since the construction of the new parliamentary building. In that also, the passage in the parliament which is being used by President of India only having water leakage is an indicator of (structural) problems of this new building ! For this we will bring an adjournment motion in the parliament today.
Tagore demanded formulation of a committee to find solutions over the water leakage in the new parliamentary building. This committee will look for the reasons behind water leakage, take an overview/ inspect the structure of new parliamentary building and the construction material used for the same and it will suggest necessary measures. Tagore said – Also, this committee will formulate definite regulations/ framework regarding the maintenance of this new building.
Official ‘X’ account of Congress party has posted this video with just two words ‘Nayee Sansad’ / ‘New parliament’ written in the post.
Paper leakage outside,
water leakage inside. The recent water leakage in the Parliament lobby used by the President highlights urgent weather resilience issues in the new building, just a year after completion.

President of Samajwadi Party Akhilesh Yadav has posted – Old parliamentary building was better than the new one. Where old MPs could also come and meet. Should we go back to the old parliamentary building ? (Should we go back) at least till the time this water leakage programme continues in the new parliamentary building ? People are asking that every new roof built during the tenure of BJP government leaks, is this (leakage) the part (and parcel) of the thoughtfully constructed structure by them ?
Editorial Perspective
Leakages in the construction of new parliamentary building is a grave concern. Strict action should be taken against the concerned builders; but it is more disgracing for the opposition parties who politicise every issue and (thereby) embarrass India. |
