Jerusalem – Following the death of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the Jihadi terrorist organisation Hamas, in Tehran, Khaled Meshaal is set to be appointed as his replacement. In 1997, Israel attempted to assassinate Khaled Meshaal in Amman, Jordan, by injecting him with poison. Meshaal survived the attack, which brought him global recognition. He subsequently became the leader of Hamas while in exile.
