PM Modi highlights India’s 16% contribution to global progress
250 million Indians lifted above the poverty line
New Delhi – My country can never go backward. I am thankful to the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). I recall the care taken by you during the period of Corona pandemic when everyone was discussing how India would cope up with it and progress. Today, we are discussing India’s journey towards progress. India’s contribution to the global economy is 16%. Also, in the last ten years, 250 million Indians have been lifted above the poverty line, stated Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his inaugural address in a conference titled ‘Journey towards Viksit Bharat (Developed India)’: Post Union Budget 2024-25’. The conference has been organised by CII.
PM Modi added that
Today, the Indian economy stands at fifth position in the world. The day is, however, not far when we will be the third largest economy and it will happen in my third tenure. The Government has declared various measures to be taken through the budget.
The Budget has gone up to Rs 48 lakh crores from Rs 16 lakh crores.
Earlier, the announcements made in budgets were not implemented. The earlier Government used to only announce schemes which used to become the news headlines but could not be implemented within the time-frame. The situation has, however, changed in the last decade.
We are emphasising on lifting the standard of living of our people by developing skills and employment. 40 million youth will be benefited by the schemes declared under ‘Prime Minister Package’ in this budget.
India is the only country where there is high growth and less inflation – PM Modi
India’s foreign exchange stock increased even during the uncertain period of the Corona pandemic. Despite such large-scale pandemic, India’s economic prudence has been an ideal for the world. The progress has been achieved despite pandemic, wars and natural calamities; therefore, India would have achieved an even higher level of progress had we not faced these problems.
Editorial Perspective :
Nobody will deny India’s economic leap except Opposition parties. India becoming the fifth biggest economy in the world in the last decade itself is an achievement; however, the economic growth can collapse anytime since it is not based on religion. People, therefore, expect PM Modi to achieve spiritual progress in the coming five years. |
