Severe rainfall causes major disruptions in Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad !

Mumbai – The heavy rains beginning on the night of July 24 have heavily impacted traffic conditions. The Andheri subway is closed as water levels have risen to 6 to 7 feet. An accident on the sea coast road has halted traffic in that area, and vehicles and buses are stuck in various locations, leading to widespread disruption.
Thane, Kalyan, Dombivli, Ulhasnagar, and Ambernath are under heavy rain. The Meteorological Department has raised a ‘red alert’ for Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, and Palghar warning of severe weather conditions. Water levels are rising dramatically around Mumbai, with the Mithi and Ulhas rivers overflowing and surpassing critical thresholds.
In front of the Kapote vehicle depot near Kalyan railway station, knee-deep water has accumulated. Rivers in the region have surpassed their danger levels.
Heavy rainfall has impacted local trains in Mumbai, leading to delays for many trains.
Palghar District Magistrate Govind Bodke declared a holiday for all afternoon session schools in Palghar district.
Kalwa, Thane, Diva, Dombivli, Kalyan, Bhiwandi, and Shahapur were also hit by rainfall.
The Amba River in Nagathane has overflowed its danger level, resulting in the total submersion of the surrounding paddy fields.
Express trains have been cancelled due to concerns about rising water levels in the Badlapur-Wangani area.
A flood situation has developed in Roha, resulting in widespread water coverage. The flooding has caused considerable damage, trapping residents in their homes.
Dams in Mumbai area are full !
Among the seven dams supplying water to Mumbai, Tulsi, Tansa, and Vihar are currently overflowing. The total water storage across these dams stands at 66.77 percent, providing enough supply for Mumbai’s needs for the next 241 days, until March 2025. Additionally, Modak Sagar Dam is 98 percent full.
