The Supreme Court of Bangladesh reduces the reservation limit from 56% to 7%
Dhaka (Bangladesh) – The Supreme Court of Bangladesh has ordered a reduction in the percentage of reservation in Government jobs. The Court has reduced the reservation from 56% to only 7%. In this, 5 % reservation is to be given to the families of freedom fighters, while the remaining 2% reservation is to the minorities, transgender and physically challenged. The Court has clarified in the order, that 93% of the jobs will be provided based on merit only. In Bangladesh, 115 persons died due to violent protests against the reservation in the last few days. Due to this, a curfew has been imposed in the country. The army has been deployed too.
