Following the Yemen strike, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated, “The blood of Israeli citizens has value, and if Israelis are attacked, the consequences will be similar to those in Lebanon and Gaza.” In response, Houthi spokesperson Yahya Saree warned that the Houthis would not hesitate to attack Israel, asserting that Tel Aviv is still not safe.
Who are the Houthi rebels ?
The Houthis are an armed group from the Zaidi Shia minority in Yemen. They established the group in the 1990s to fight against the alleged corruption of the then President Ali Abdullah Saleh. The group is named after its founder, Hussein al-Houthi, and they also call themselves ‘Ansar Allah’ or ‘Supporters of God.’
