Kolkata (Bengal) – “Unfortunate are those who are not born in Islam. If we can offer them ‘Dawat’ (invitation to Islam) and instill in them ‘Iman’ (devotion to Islam), then we can please Allah,” stated Firhad Hakim, mayor of Kolkata city and a minister in the Trinamool Congress Government in Bengal on July 3. His statements have created a controversy. Hakim was speaking at the event of ‘All India Quran Tournament’ at Dhono Dhonyo Stadium in Kolkata.

Firhad Hakim further said,

If we can convert someone to Islam, we will prove that we are the true Muslims by spreading Islam.

When thousands of people sit with skull caps on their heads, it is seen by all. It shows our unity and also makes it clear that no one can suppress us.

We are born in Islam, so the Prophet and Allah have paved the way to heaven for us. If we do not commit any sin, we will go straight to heaven.

Editorial Perspectives

  • Trinamool Congress minister openly makes such statements and TMC Chief Mamata Banerjee does not oppose. This proves that Trinamool Congress is another Muslim League and one should not be surprised if Bengal becomes another Bangladesh soon.
  • Such a party is being voted into power repeatedly by the Hindus of Bengal. Hindus are committing suicidal mistake by doing so.
  • Hakim hasn’t spoken about how he plans to convert non-Muslims to Muslims. But if we look at the history of past 1,400 years or the history of the partition in 1947, one can easily identify how conversions will be done in future.
