Astana (Kazakhstan) – External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. During this meeting, he raised the issue of Indians trapped in the Russia-Ukraine conflict zone. Jaishankar told journalists, “I intend to consistently try for this issue until all our people return.”

Speaking to journalists, Jaishankar said, “During the bilateral discussions, I raised this issue very clearly and forcefully. Many Indians have been recruited into the Russian military. We will only understand the full truth once they return. Regardless of the situation, we cannot accept our people being deployed in another country’s military and actively participating in a war zone. I told them that we need Russia’s cooperation and that they are our friend and partner. We need to find a way to bring our people back to India as quickly and effectively as possible.”
