Brahmaputra river floods Assam : 46 dead, over 16 lakh affected
Flood situation in Arunachal Pradesh also critical
Guwahati (Assam) – The State of Assam is in a critical condition due to the floods in Brahmaputra River. So far, 46 people have lost their lives due to floods and on July 3, a total of 8 people drowned in flood waters. More than 16 lakh people are affected by the flood waters. The Assam administration has set up 515 relief camps in the flood-hit Districts where an estimated 4 lakh people are taking shelter. 11 animals drowned in flood waters in Kaziranga National Park in the State and 65 animals have been rescued. Other rivers in the State are also flowing above the danger level.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma briefed reporters after reviewing the flood situation in the State. He said the devastating floods in the State were mainly due to cloudbursts in neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh. Heavy rains caused flooding in the upper reaches of China, Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh. It was a geographical condition which we could not have controlled.

60,000 people affected by floods in Arunachal Pradesh
The flood situation in the State of Arunachal Pradesh is also critical. The administrative officers reported that more than 60,000 people were affected by the flood. The 4 Districts of Namsai, Lohit, Changlang, and eastern Siang are critically flooded. There have been landslides at some locations.
Flood situation has been created in western Imphal and eastern Imphal because of incessant rains in Manipur. 2 drowned in the Senapati river in Senapati District of Manipur.
