Shooting at the Israeli embassy in Serbia
Attacker who had accepted Islam, killed in Police response
Belgrade (Serbia) – A man shot at a Policeman outside the Israeli embassy here, and was killed in return fire by the Policeman. Serbia’s Prime Minister called the attack a ‘terrorist act’. Treatment of the Policeman injured in the firing is going on at the hospital. Israel’s Foreign Ministry said the embassy was closed following the incident.
Attacker is from the city of Mladenovac and had accepted Islam. He had migrated to Novi Pazar, the historical and political centre of the Bosniak Muslim minority in Serbia. It is the centre of Islam in the country.
