Indian worker dies in Italy after arm severed by machine

Employer abandoned him by the roadside instead of seeking treatment

Rome (Italy) – Satnam Singh (30), an Indian worker in Italy, died after his arm was severed by a machine while working in a field. Following the accident, the field owner abandoned Satnam Singh by the roadside near his home, delaying medical treatment. Satnam’s wife and friends informed the Police about the incident. Subsequently, Satnam was airlifted to Rome, but he succumbed to his injuries during treatment at the hospital. The Indian embassy has provided full assistance to Satnam’s family.

Guilty will be punished : Italian Government

Italy’s Labour Minister, Marina Calderone, condemned the incident. Responding to a question in parliament, she stated that the incident exemplifies cruelty. Authorities are investigating the entire case, and action will be taken against the guilty as soon as possible.
