Terrorists set on fire the bus carrying CRPF soldiers in Manipur
Imphal (Manipur) – Terrorists torched a bus carrying Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) soldiers in Manipur’s Kangpokpi District. The Police said that the fire brigade extinguished the fire immediately. Fortunately, there was no loss of life in this incident. A case has been registered against unknown terrorists in Kangpokpi Police Station in this regard. Police sources said that some of the suspects are being investigated in this Kuki militant-dominated District. The bus carrying the soldiers was hired. The bus was owned by a person from Meitei community, Police said. Two trucks were burnt in Bishnupur District last week.
Strict action will be taken against those spreading violence in Manipur : Home Minister Amit Shah
Home Minister Amit Shah held a meeting in Delhi on 17th June regarding violence and security situation in Manipur. It was decided in this meeting that the Ministry of Home Affairs will hold talks with both Meitei and Kuki communities. Home Minister Shah directed State Chief Secretary Vineet Joshi to ensure rehabilitation of the displaced people by providing them with proper health, education, etc. facilities. A statement released by the Ministry of Home Affairs said that the army will be deployed to restore peace and harmony in Manipur, and strict action will be taken against those spreading violence.
The high-level meeting on the situation in Manipur was held after Governor Anusuiya Uikey met the Home Minister. The meeting was attended by Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, Intelligence Chief Tapan Deka, Army Chief General Manoj Pandey, Security Advisor of Manipur Kuldeep Singh, Chief Secretary Vineet Joshi, Manipur’s Director General of Police Rajeev Singh and Director General of Assam Rifles Pradeep Chandran Nair.
